PS1 welcomed back students in grades K-6 for the (re-)start to our Hybrid Program. The students are happy... The teachers are happy... It feels like the first day(s) of school. In many ways it is the first day(s) of school!

It is with enormous pleasure that we announce the appointment of Jij de Jesus as the first ever PS1 Associate Head of School, effective July 1, 2021. Jij (pronounced "Jay") comes to us from Rowland Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah, where he has served as Lower School Principal since 2015.
Students in the Green Class (grades 1-2 equivalent) honored Inauguration Day with conversations about what they would do as President and explored the theme of Unity in President Biden's Address.
A primary purpose of Pluralism in Education is To educate every PS1 student in the way that works best for them. One way all Clusters at PS1 facilitate this is to investigate the notion of Growth Mindset. Learning about Growth Mindset helps students develop resilience and a strong sense of self as they face challenges and adversity.
Please enjoy a few highlights from Blue students as they share things they like/accept about themselves. Students listened to the story I Like Myself by Karen Beaumont to identify characteristics they admire about themselves, and qualities their Growth Mindset can help them improve.
Cordinated by PS1's music specialist Virginia, students showcased their gratitude by creating this "Good Job" video. The entire community gathered virtually to celebrate the holiday season and teachers and parents had their hearts warmed by this incredible tribute!

PS1's Community Service Committee thanks everyone who participated in the PS Serves sock and underwear drive, benefiting The People Concern. This may have been our most successful drive to date! Residents received the socks and underwear on Monday along with a delivery of tasty cookies.
PS1 Has Officially Earned A Green Business Certification! The application process took almost a year and we thank Brad and Ani for working tirelessly from start to finish. The certification signifies and recognizes excellence in the many steps PS1 continues to take to incorporate sustainable practices into our operations.

Back by popular demand! Dolly Klock has been a favorite speaker the past few years at PS1 and we are honored to have her join us again.
This workshop will help parents recognize the difference between moodiness and mood disorders, and provide tools for making room for kids' big feelings while regulating our own adult emotions in the process.
