Auction 2008 “The Magic of PS#1”

The Annual Auction is the major fundraising event of the year. Parents, Alumni, Faculty, Staff and guests all gather together for an exciting evening each Spring. Attendees may take part in the silent or live auction and get in on the paddle-raising action of Fund-A-Need.

Annual Giving

All of the money raised in Annual Giving goes to help meet the operating budget, as tuition and fees alone cover less than 80% of the cost of educating a child. The difference comes in the form of donations to the school, and each year we ask for 100% parent participation.

Annual Giving enhances every facet of the PS#1 experience, from program to specialists, special projects to technology and the arts, including the many educational tools in the classroom. In addition, the diversity of our student body is enriched by Annual Giving contributions to our Financial Aid Endowment. Donations also protect our very low student-teacher ratio by supplementing teachers’ salaries.

All Annual gifts are tax deductible to the extent allowed by the laws governing tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organizations and may be presented in cash, checks, stocks, tangible assets, or credit card. Memorial and Tribute gifts are also welcome.

Matching Gifts

Many companies offer Matching Gift programs for employees and their spouses. This match can double, triple or even quadruple the amount of your gift at no cost to you. Contact your employer’s human resources department to verify their Matching Gifts policies and to obtain a donation verification form. Our Development Department is happy to assist you in filling out any necessary forms.

Appreciated Securities/Stocks

Donating stock that has gone up in value allows you to deduct the current market value on your tax return, regardless of what you paid for the stock. Please contact our Business Office for assistance with the transfer.

eScrip

You shop and our school earns dollars! What could be better? Local eScrip merchants will contribute up to 8% of store purchases to PS#1. Click here to sign up or renew online (it’s quick and easy)!

Parents Guild

Our hard-working Parents Guild coordinates many fun events throughout the school year, including two fundraisers:

The Book Fair and Festival is a literature-based, week-long event that is open to the entire PS#1 community, including children and neighbors. Poetry and Prose readings, special appearances by local authors, carnival games, music, food and books galore (available for purchase and/or donation) make this Fall affair fun for the whole family.
