Welcome to PS1 - Santa Monica's best private elementary school. We are a progressive independent school for children in Kindergarten through 6th grade. PS1 is a place where individuality is celebrated, community is cultivated, and every voice matters.

Pluralism, the “P” in PS1, is the belief that our community is strengthened when individual differences are understood, respected, and welcomed. It is a daily practice that shapes how we learn, connect, and grow together.

At PS1, we honor childhood. We intentionally recognize and build upon each child’s passions, interests, and unique ways of learning. We value children for who they are and what they bring to each day, both inside and outside the classroom. The result is a community of motivated, engaged, and confident learners who are strong in themselves, open to others, and ready to take on new challenges.

Now in our 54th year, PS1 remains a joyful, child-centered community where belonging comes from being known and celebrated.
