Why K-6

A campus designed for kids, a program designed for growth.

The Power of K–6

Elementary years lay the foundation of who children become.

The elementary years are the foundation of who children become. At PS1, we focus exclusively on Kindergarten through 6th grade so we can dedicate every resource to these formative years. With two full-time teachers in every classroom, our program is designed to support each phase of a child’s growth—intellectually, socially, and emotionally—building the confidence, empathy, and skills that prepare them for middle school and beyond.

A Seven-Year Journey

Kindergarten

Discovery

Curiosity and wonder take center stage as children explore, play, and build foundational skills.

1st Grade

Confidence

Students begin to see themselves as capable learners, gaining independence while still nurtured by older peers.

2nd Grade

Responsibility

With a bridge year all their own, students step into greater ownership of their learning and strengthen their voice.

3rd Grade

Exploration

Children dive deeper into academics and creativity, asking bigger questions and experimenting with ideas.

4th Grade

Collaboration

Students hone teamwork and problem-solving skills, learning how to lead and contribute within groups.

5th Grade

Leadership in Action

As Olders, students step into mentorship—guiding younger peers, modeling responsibility, and stretching their own academic capacity.

6th Grade

Leadership with Purpose

Graduates emerge as leaders of the whole school community—planning events, speaking at Circle Times, representing PS1 traditions, and preparing to carry their confidence, empathy, and voice into middle school and beyond.

You have given our daughter the gift of her childhood, all the while setting her up for success at the next step. We are so grateful for this experience.”

Teachers as Guides

Two teachers, every classroom, every child known.

PS1 teachers are experts in early childhood development. Learning is child-centered, integrated, and project-based. Teachers act as facilitators, empowering students to explore and discover.

A Campus Just for Kids

Where joy and learning go hand in hand.

PS1 is a place where kids get to be kids. Our campus is intentionally designed for elementary students, giving them space to play, imagine, discover, and belong. At the same time, they are gaining the independence, resilience, and academic foundation they’ll carry forward into the next stage of their journey.
