Tuition and Fees

The decisions to admit a student and to provide Tuition Assistance are two separate, simultaneous processes. Tuition Assistance is provided on the basis of demonstrated financial need and with two priorities. Our first priority is to increase the socioeconomic diversity of the student body. Our second is to support currently enrolled students in completing their PS1 education.

We believe that the primary financial responsibility for a student’s education rests with the family. Because our available funds are generous but limited, we expect that families applying for Tuition Assistance have made use of all other available resources.

$1.66 million in Tuition Assistance has been applied to tuition and fees for 32% of the student body for the 2025-2026 school year.  The average grant is $31,321 or 73% of tuition and fees.

PS1 is a member of Clarity, an organization that helps independent schools manage their Tuition Assistance programs.The PS1 Tuition Assistance application process is completely done through Clarity system, which will pull IRS tax information to create a more efficient process for families. In the case of separation or divorce, both parents must submit required materials. A family must reapply every year to determine continual participation in the program.  Families applying will be sent relevant forms via email in early January.

As a school built around participation and inclusion, we rely on our parent community to contribute beyond tuition, in ways big and small, as they are able. Parents are actively involved in everything from planning and executing large events, fundraising, and heading up committees to volunteering in the classroom, driving for field trips, and distributing hot lunches around the campus and much, much more.
