TOUR DATES: On-Campus Tours are on select Thursday mornings from 9:30 am-11:30 am. PS1 School Tours are offered from September-February for families applying to the 2026-2027 school year.

What You’ll Experience

A PS1 tour gives you an inside look at our campus and our unique approach to education. During your visit, you will:

Learn about our pluralistic philosophy and child-centered curriculum
Tour our campus and see learning in action in classrooms and Specialist programs
Hear directly from administrators, teachers, and students during a Q&A session

This Tour is designed to help you understand how we nurture each child’s voice, joy, and potential.

Important Details

Parents/Guardians Only: Tours are for adults only. When applicable, we ask that both parents attend—even if living in separate households.
No Application Needed: You don’t have to apply before attending a tour.
Reservations Required: Space is limited, so please reserve your spot in advance.

Circle Time

Friday mornings at 8:45 am for the 2025-26 School Year

PS1 Class Circle Time (whole family welcome), Fridays at 8:45 am (approx 45 mins): Circle Time is our tradition of the all-school gathering which serves to "pass on the culture of the school," and is an opportunity to come together as a whole to engage actively through music, song, and movement. Class Circle Times are designed and presented by each classroom. The scheduled class will present an aspect of their curriculum and/or their collaboration with Specialists.

For Parents Only

Parent Education

PS1 hosts guest speakers and seminars that typically relate to parenting and child development throughout the year. Our mission is to provide a respectful, supportive environment in which parents may gather and share challenges and strategies for raising children in the presence of a trained professional. PS1 is a member of Common Sense Media (CSM) and we will be inviting parents to several speaking engagements throughout the year sponsored by CSM.

Since the school’s inception in 1971, PS1 has carefully grown into a robust and vibrant campus in the heart of Santa Monica. The campus resides on 1.2 acres which includes approximately 30,500 sq. ft. of buildings and two expansive play yards (one of which is home to the oldest coastal live oak tree in Santa Monica!).

Joy in discovery and emphasis on sustainability and community is supported by our award-winning architecture and light-filled campus. Bright, spacious classrooms designed to bring learning to life feature their own outdoor areas, shared workrooms and easy flow to Library, Art, P.E., Music, Spanish and The STEAM Studio. PS1’s play areas are some of the most innovative elementary school playgrounds in Southern California. From the ground up, PS1 encourages exploration and interaction.
