Parents

At PS1 Pluralistic School, parents are valued partners in their child’s educational journey and vital contributors to our inclusive, thriving school community. From the classroom to the playground, on any given day you’ll find parents actively volunteering, whether assisting with special classroom projects, supporting events, or helping with our lunch delivery program, bringing their energy and care to every corner of our school.

This hands-on involvement models for our children the importance of community stewardship and collaboration. When parents engage deeply with the school, they show their children how to take ownership and pride in the world around them. As a result, our students grow confident in expressing themselves, feeling truly connected, and making PS1 their own special place to learn and grow.

Beyond that, these shared experiences create a strong network of lasting friendships, weaving together families and children alike into a supportive, vibrant community that extends far beyond the classroom walls.

Parents Guild

The PS1 Parents Guild is the volunteer organization through which every parent can find a comfortable way to offer time, energy, talent, effort, ideas, and suggestions in support of the school mission, school administration, and classrooms. Its goals include supporting the staff and students, building community, fundraising for the school, and offering volunteer opportunities in the broader community. Every parent in the school is a member of the Parents Guild.

The Parents Guild works through committees including First Day Coffee, Book Fair, Family Festival, Party Book, Community Service, Library, Classroom Assistance, Staff Appreciation Day, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, One From the Heart, Yearbook, School Spirit, Farm to School, annual Fundraising Gala, and more.

Parents Guild activities and events are run by designated committee chairs along with the Parents Guild Executive Board. The Executive Board meets monthly at the school and welcomes the involvement and ideas of all PS1 families.
