Parents

PS1 Pluralistic School is for parents too. Parents are partners in their child’s education and in building our inclusive school community. On any given day parents can be seen volunteering throughout our campus both inside and outside the classrooms.

By volunteering at the school, we model for our children how to shape our community and become an integral part of it. Our children, in turn, gain the confidence to express themselves in this community and make the school their own. And along the way the parents and children alike make friendships that last a lifetime!

Watch and listen as a PS1 parent shares the value of being part of our inclusive community...

Parents Guild

The PS1 Parents Guild is the volunteer organization through which every parent can find a comfortable way to offer time, energy, talent, effort, ideas, and suggestions in support of the school mission, school administration, and classrooms. Its goals include supporting the staff and students, building community, fundraising for the school, and offering volunteer opportunities in the broader community. Every parent in the school is a member of the Parents Guild.

The Parents Guild works through committees including First Day Coffee, Book Fair, Family Festival, Party Book, Community Service, Library, Classroom Assistance, Staff Appreciation Day, Grandparents and Special Friends Day, One From the Heart, Yearbook, School Spirit, Farm to School, annual Fundraising Gala, and more.

Parents Guild activities and events are run by designated committee chairs along with the Parents Guild Executive Board. The Executive Board meets monthly at the school and welcomes the involvement and ideas of all PS1 families.
